We’re all so busy these days, rushing here and there, that we rarely take the time to wind down in the evenings. It’s not just our ability to function that is impaired by not getting high quality sleep. Our immune system is also less effective when we’re not properly rested. The body needs that time to recuperate from all that’s been thrown at it during the day. If you don’t let it happen then it’s more vulnerable to attack and simply can’t fend off illness properly.
As if that’s not enough to convince you of the importance of sleep, there’s one point which is last but very much not least: sleep affects mood. If you find that you’re constantly dropping into bad moods or that you have less patience than usual, or if you notice yourself getting low all the time, it’s probably to do with sleep. Get some good quality rest and make sure to keep getting it, and the likelihood is that you’ll be back to your old self in no time.
